Frequently asked questions

What is a standard line?

A standard line has 55 characters including spaces. The total number of characters is divided by 55 and rounded up. German courts and authorities pay translations per standard line (JVEG).

How is it counted?

As in Microsoft Word: characters with spaces, without line and paragraph breaks. Persian and Arabic script, zero-width non-joiners and accented letters are counted correctly.

Can I count a scanned PDF?

A scan holds an image, not text. The counter tells you so. In that case, count your finished translation instead.

Is my text stored?

No. Text and files are counted in memory and discarded right away. Only an anonymous counter for the monthly quota is kept.
